he Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has launched a Junior Chamber at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to strengthen youth entrepreneurship and equip students with practical business skills. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world enterprise by providing mentorship, training, and industry exposure to aspiring young entrepreneurs.
The KNUST–GNCCI Junior Chamber is designed to nurture innovation among students while encouraging them to develop viable business ideas that can contribute to national economic growth. Through the programme, students will gain access to experienced business leaders, networking opportunities, and entrepreneurship development programmes that will prepare them to start and manage their own businesses.
GNCCI officials explained that the initiative forms part of the Chamber’s broader strategy to support youth development and help address the challenge of graduate unemployment in Ghana. By connecting students with the private sector, the Junior Chamber is expected to provide a platform where young innovators can transform ideas into sustainable enterprises.
The programme will also create opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry, enabling students to receive guidance on business planning, leadership development, and market access. Stakeholders believe such partnerships are essential for building a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of driving economic transformation in Ghana.
The launch at KNUST marks another step in GNCCI’s efforts to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking among Ghanaian youth and strengthen the country’s future business leadership pipeline.
