Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has stated that he does not see any breach of the law in the award of contracts under the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme. Speaking on TV3 current affairs programme and monitored by Orangeplus Business, he noted that, based on available information, the processes do not appear to violate procurement regulations.
However, he emphasised that legal compliance should not limit public scrutiny. Kpebu urged the media—often described as the Fourth Estate—to remain vigilant and continue holding public institutions accountable. According to him, transparency and oversight are essential to ensure that public resources are used efficiently and in the national interest.
He stressed that while legality is important, public confidence in large-scale infrastructure projects depends on openness, proper communication and consistent monitoring.
